What is it and context
Shibuya Sky is a modern 360-degree viewing platform located atop the Shibuya Scramble Square skyscraper, completed in 2019 and directly connected to Shibuya Station. Opened in November 2019, it has quickly become one of the neighborhood's most beloved attractions.
Three-level experience
The climb includes:
- Sky Gate (14th floor): entrance and ticket office, with glass floor overlooking the station below.
- Sky Gallery (46th floor): air-conditioned interior space with digital installations, “Paradise Lounge”, bar and souvenir shops.
- Sky Stage (rooftop, 47th floor): 2,500 m² outdoor area with breathtaking views, including relaxation areas on artificial grass, suspended hammocks (Cloud Hammocks), the famous Sky Edge – a photography corner with a low, illuminated barrier – and the interactive Geo Compass indicating the main points of the city.
View, atmosphere and shows
From here, you can admire the Shinjuku skyline, Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Tower, Mount Fuji (on clear days), and Tokyo Bay. In the evening, the spectacle is enhanced by the Crossing Light, an installation that projects 18 beams of light into the sky every half hour.
